1.What is Vietnam Electronic Visa (eVisa)?

Vietnam Electronic Visa, also known as Vietnam eVisa (symbol: EV), was introduced by the Vietnam Immigration Department on February 2, 2017. Vietnam eVisa is applied for and issued online. The visa has a maximum validity of 90 days and can be chosen for single or multiple entries. Passport holders from countries and regions worldwide are eligible to apply.

 

2. What information will be on the Vietnam Electronic Visa?

Your Vietnam Electronic Visa (eVisa) will contain the following detailed information:

• Full name of the eVisa holder, date of birth, gender, nationality, passport number, passport expiration date

• Travel dates (visa validity period)

• Port of entry

• Purpose of entry

• Inviting/guaranteeing agency/organization and their address, phone number (if applicable)

• A unique QR code that, when scanned, displays some details of the eVisa holder, including passport number and nationality.

It will not have a red seal from the Vietnamese government because it is issued online, and the information will match that in the Vietnam government's immigration system.

4. What documents are required to apply for a eVisa?

If you are eligible for a Vietnam electronic visa, you will need to provide the following information during the application process:

  • Applicant's nationality
  • Port of entry
  • Arrival date
  • Passport number
  • Passport validity (must have at least 6 months remaining validity and at least two blank pages)
  • Personal identification photo (passport-sized) (refer to Vietnam visa photo requirements)
  • Passport personal information page photo
  • Credit card for online payment of the electronic visa fee

When applying for a visa, it is essential to provide the correct port of entry. Entering Vietnam through a port that is not approved on your visa may result in possible rejection.

6. Visa Processing Time

How long does it take to process a eVisa? Generally, it takes 5-7 business days (Vietnam time = GMT+7, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Vietnam public holidays) to receive the electronic visa letter. However, the processing time may be affected by a high volume of applicants or holidays. Therefore, it is advisable to apply for such a visa 1-2 weeks before your departure.
